Dean Anja Geitmann presents B. Denham Jolly with a Distinguished Leader Award

Alumnus B. Denham Jolly, CM, BScAgr’60, was recognized with a Distinguished Leader Award at the McGill Toronto Excellence Awards hosted on June 8th. Dean Anja Geitmann and Celeste Longhurst, Director of Development AES, were on hand to congratulate him in person.

Professor Kyle Elliott Canada Research Chair, Tier 2, Arctic Ecology, Department of Natural Resource Sciences, received the prestigious Principal’s Prize for Outstanding Emerging Researchers at Spring 2022 Convocation.

Professor Elena Bennett, Canada Research Chair, Tier I, Sustainability Science, Department of Natural Resource Sciences / Bieler School of Environment, was the recipient of the prestigious David Thomson Award for Graduate Supervision and Teaching at Spring 2022 Convocation.

Dr. Alice Cherestes, Senior Faculty Lecturer & Director Freshman Program has been appointed Associate Dean (Academic) effective June 1, 2022 for a 5-year term. Dr. Cherestes received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Chemistry from Queens College, City University of New York and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the City University of New York. 

Dr. Valerio Hoyas-Villegas, Assistant Professor in Plant Science, has been appointed to the Plant Breeders’ Rights Advisory Committee by Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, PC, MP for a 3-year term beginning June 1, 2022.

Dr. Anne-Julie Tessier, BSc(NutrSc)’16, PhD’22, is the recipient of the Governor General’s Gold Medal (Human Sciences) and the Gordon A. Maclachlan Prize for the most outstanding PhD graduate (Biological or Health Sciences). She completed her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Stéphanie Chevalier in McGill’s School of Human Nutrition. 

Distinguished Alumni & Distinguished Young Alumni Awards: Nominations are now being accepted until June 30th. Recipients will be honoured at Homecoming 2022.
